Report on the AGM and Scientific Meeting 2001

To celebrate the 15th Anniversary of the Hong Kong Society for Nursing Education, an Annual General Meeting & Scientific Meeting was held at the World Trade Centre Club on the 16th March 2001. That evening was indeed meaningful and full of joy. It was not only a good occasion to meet old and new friends, but also an excellent opportunity for members to share their views and ideas on continuing nursing education.

The Society is very appreciative of Professor Liu Liang, Dean of the School of Chinese Medicine in the Hong Kong Baptist University, who gave an enlightening talk about the development of Chinese Medicine in Hong Kong, and, of Mr. Paul Chan, Principal of Tuen Mun Hospital, School of General Nursing and Midwifery, who discussed on the implications of the development of Chinese Medicine on nursing education and nursing practice at the Scientific Meeting. They offered us many insightful ideas on the topics.

The annual dinner was full of amusement. The most intriguing and enjoyable event was the magic show. Various tricks, such as changing rice into water; making doves and rabbit appear and then disappear; tricks with cards and ropes and many others were performed flawlessly. To enhance the audiance's involvement, some of the honorable guests were invited to participate in the magic show. They were all amazed with the tricks played. Moreover, excitement was sustained throughout the evening as the lucky draw was conducted continuously at dinnertime. Many of the participants were overjoyed when they won astonishing prizes. The evening was indeed very enjoyable and memorable.
